What Players Were the Most Valuable in 2016

When I reviewed, what players were the most valuable in 2016- I learned so much more. In Major League Basketball, football, baseball, and soccer- there are always individuals, who helped lead their team to success.

The NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), is an annual award, which began in 1955, to the best performing player of the season. The winner receives the Maurice Podoloff Trophy, which is named after the first NBA commissioner. Starting in 2010, a one ballot process was cast- by fans by an online poll. The player who won both 2015 and 2016 MVP award, was Stephen Curry.

* Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors is the son of former NBA player, Dell Curry. He is also the brother of Seth Curry. He exclusively, play point guard and career average of 22.4 points, 6.9 assist, and 1.8 steals per game. Curry is a great free throw shooter.

The NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP), award is given to the most valued player annually. The first award was given to Joe F. Carr, has a trophy that is given out by the NFL from 1938- 1946. Since 2011, the NFL honors winners of the Associated Press MVP Award.

* The NFL Most Valuable Player of 2016, was Matt Ryan. He is a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. During the 2016 season, he thrived for a record of 503 yards and four touchdowns. In October 2016, he has an NFL record fro the most consecutive games with 200 passing yards.

The MLB Valuable Player Award, has been awarding baseball players since 1931. The MVP voting takes places during postseason, but results are decided during the World Series. In recent decades, pitchers rarely win the award. Justin Verlander was the first pitcher to win, since Dennis Eckersley- won in 1992.

* In 2016, Kris Bryant (NL), Mike Trout (AL), and Cy Young won (NL and AL) award. Slugger Kris Bryant, Chicago Cubs was voted the NL MVP for being the best offensive player in both outfield and infield. He had 39 homers and 102 RBI’s, helping the cubs win the World Series- since 1908. Mike Trout won the (AL) MVP award. He plays for the Los Angeles Angels, and has won the award for the second time. He hits .315 with 29 home runs, 100 RBI’s and stole 30 bases. Lastly, Cy Young, won rookie and manager award of the year in the American League and National League, who emerged from the cubs rotation.

In Major League Soccer, there are many MVP players. In 2016, there was Kei Karma of the Columbus Crew, Benny Feilhaber, Kansas City, Mauro Diaz, Dallas, Clint Dempsey, Seattle Sounders, Kaka, Orlando City, Giovanido Santes, LA Galaxy, and David Outsted of the Vancouver White Caps. The ultimate winner wins the MLS Cup. Major League Soccer, is composed of 22 teams- 3 in Canada and 19 in the United States. The season is from March to October. The best team wins a Supporter’s Shield Award. Ultimately, twelve teams competed for the MLS Cup.

* The MLS Cup of 2016, was awarded to Stefan Frei of the Seattle Sounders. The award ceremony was held in Toronto, Ontario. He was a player who made seven saves. He also hold a U.S. green card, which qualify him as a domestic player. Frie moved from Switzerland, to the United States in 1990’s. He traded to the Seattle Sounders in 2013. He is one of the best goalkeepers in the league, keeping eight clean-sheets in 33 appearances, after finishing with the Western Conference- during the 2016 season.

The most valuable players for 2016 were all talented, competitive, and was motivated to win the awards that they received.
